Cost should be an open door, not a wall

Fees & Insurance

Getting started with therapy is already hard enough. Here's a clear picture of what services cost and how coverage works — so that money isn't one more thing standing in the way.

If you have Partnership Health Plan, you may pay nothing at all

Partnership Health Plan of California

Clients covered by Partnership Health Plan of California (PHC) or Anthem Medi-Cal are likely to pay $0 out of pocket for therapy sessions. This applies to telehealth and in-person appointments. Superbills are available for other insurance plans.

Coverage varies by plan and individual situation. Reach out to verify your specific benefits before starting.

What is Partnership Health Plan?

Partnership Health Plan of California (PHC) is a managed care plan that administers Medi-Cal benefits for qualifying California residents in certain counties, including Nevada County and surrounding areas. If you or your child has Medi-Cal and you're in a PHC-covered county, you likely have PHC coverage — even if you haven't heard it called that before.

Not sure if you have PHC? Check your insurance card — it should say "Partnership HealthPlan of California" or "PHC" on it. You can also call the member services number on the back of your card to confirm.

Private pay rates

For clients without Partnership Health Plan coverage, sessions are billed at the standard private pay rate. There is no additional fee for Minecraft therapy — the platform, access, and setup are all included.

Individual session
$170 / session

Standard 50-minute individual therapy session. Telehealth or in-person. Couples sessions also $170.

Minecraft Education Edition access is included at no additional charge.

Sliding scale
Available upon inquiry

A sliding scale may be available for clients who need it. The goal is to make this work accessible — cost shouldn't be the barrier. Reach out to have that conversation.

No extra charge for Minecraft. Minecraft therapy sessions are billed exactly like standard therapy sessions — there is no separate fee for the game, the platform, the private world setup, or any in-game materials. What you see above is what you pay.

Good Faith Estimate (No Surprises Act)

Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected costs before beginning services. If you are uninsured or choosing not to use insurance, a Good Faith Estimate is available upon request. Please ask about it before your first appointment.

A Good Faith Estimate is not a contract and does not obligate you to use services.

Common questions about fees & coverage

Check your insurance card — it should say "Partnership HealthPlan of California" or "PHC" on it. If you're not sure, call the member services number on the back of your card and ask whether you're enrolled in a PHC managed care plan. You can also ask your case worker or social worker if you receive Medi-Cal services through the county.
Growing Home Counseling currently accepts Partnership Health Plan of California and Anthem Medi-Cal. For other insurance, superbills are available so you can seek reimbursement directly from your plan. The answer to "does my plan work?" is often more nuanced than a simple yes/no — reach out at (530) 264-0080 and we can talk through it.
A sliding scale may be available. Please reach out and let's have an honest conversation about what's workable. The goal is to make this accessible, and cost concerns are never a reason to not even inquire. The worst that happens is we figure out together that it's not the right fit right now.
